(DESIGN AND DELIVERY)
After signing a franchise agreement, a franchisor needs to bring the new franchisee into the business as quickly and easily as possible – the goal is to have the franchisee operational in a suitable time frame. This is the first interaction with the business model and is critical in setting standards for all parties.
The impact of the first stages of induction for a franchisee is long lasting; first impressions really count. The aim is to ensure that the franchisee is taken on a voyage of discovery at a suitable pace, with a credible mentor(s), and is supported in learning the business. It must avoid overwhelming a trainee whilst still developing critical knowledge and new skills in the franchisee. We also aim to confirm to the franchisee that they have ‘made the right choice’.
Induction training offers individuals a professional impression of the company and an understanding of its aims and objectives, as well as a deeper dive into the ‘how to’ of the business. It’s NOT a reading of the operations manual! It is making that come alive… It’s not just about what – it’s about ‘how’: a dry set of processes delivered to a new franchisee may form a reference tool, but human nature dictates that very few will read and assimilate it all. We aim to put the ‘zing’ into induction – through all aspects, not solely in the classroom.
Induction training helps franchisees (and new employees) work well in their new roles, and is particularly important for franchises, where consistency is vital for customer trust.
The training should be in line with organisational goals and create a positive atmosphere and understanding of why certain processes are in place, and create a feeling of belonging. Great training will engage people, have them contributing and bought into what they’re doing. It encourages new entrants to both meet and exceed organisational aims.
Franchise Projects offers bespoke support in many ways, according to customer’s needs. Some of the most popular include:
Writing a Training Programme
Induction training needs defined key elements to make a positive impact with the person being trained – it is the spring board for success and should reflect the needs of the learner.
The right balance of information-giving, social interaction and hands on work is essential to prevent loss of concentration to avoid missing essential information.
Working with you, we can identify core competencies and develop a practical induction programme to include online, face to face and peer to peer learning.
Delivering Training Programmes
Experienced trainers at Franchise Projects work with their clients to harness whatever internal resources are available to deliver the right training at the right time and in line with training objectives.
Training the Trainer
Franchise Projects offers the option to ‘train the trainer’ so that courses can be delivered by an existing staff member, saving money long term on hiring an external resource.
Often the person training is the ‘expert’ in that part of the business. That, sadly, doesn’t mean they know how to share the knowledge or to engage their trainees to learn. Poor trainers can do more harm than good and leave franchisees questioning their choice to join the organisation. Disengaged trainees are likely to fare poorly once they finish training.
Franchise Projects can help key staff to ‘skill up’, to develop and deliver great training programmes that energise, engage, educate and inspire.
